Tryout Application - CLOSED.

Are you ready to tryout for the team of Lund Cheer and join the most cheerful association in Lund? On this page, you will find all the necessary information!

Are you unsure of what cheerleading is? Here is a short description of the different elements in the sport:

STUNTING

Stunting is all about displaying builds and throws during performances and are divided into flyers, bases, front- and back spots. No worries if you haven’t done it before, just be prepared to learn!

DANCING

Dancing is also a big part of cheerleading: in between stunting sequences, dances are performed to put on a tremendous show!

GYMNASTICS

Cartwheels, flick-flacks and flips! There will be some opportunities to train gymnastics during practices, but we mostly rely on availability of previous experience in the team.

Requirements

We do not require anyone to have any experience in cheerleading or gymnastics in advance. Previous experience is of course meritorious and if you have any, please mention that in the application form!

Lund Cheer is a part of Akademiska Föreningen (AF), hence all athletes must be a member of AF. You are a member of AF if you have paid for a membership in Studentlund. Other requirements needed to be part of the team:

  • All team members should agree to the purpose of the association according to 2 kap in the statutes (see About us”).
  • All team members must agree to our alcohol- and drug policy which says that members must never be under the influence of alcohol or drugs during practices and that there is a zero tolerance for pushing people to drink alcohol (“alkoholhets”) outside of practices.

In Lunds Akademiska Cheerleadingförening, everyone is welcome as they are; bullying, macho culture, and boring attitudes are strictly prohibited, as are violations based on sexuality, gender, body, socioeconomic background, age, ethnicity, etc.

Our time commitment

We want students who apply to be aware that cheerleading is a sport that requires full attendance from everyone in the team. There are exceptions, of course, but generally we expect team members to prioritize the practices by having good study planning and dedication. As soon as people cannot make it to practice, the rest of the team will suffer from it and will not be able to perform the desired stunts anymore.

NEW: 2 teams!

As of September 2023, Lund Cheer has a second team as well! The two teams are called Lions and Cubs and will both have different training goals and practice times.

Cubs: Lund Cheer Cubs consists of about 25 athletes and practices once a week. This team is perfect for those with no experience at all, beginners, and those who want to refresh previous cheerleading skills. Hopefully the team will be ready for some performances during the spring of 2024!

LionsLions is the competition team of Lund Cheer of about 35 athletes and will practice twice a week. This team will mostly consist of athletes with previous experience in cheerleading, gymnastics and/or dancing. Lions will perform at various proms and events in Lund, and also travel together as a team to compete with their routine (inter)nationally.

If you have any questions, please contact the coaches directly at cubs@lundcheer.se and lions@lundcheer.se.
